Services: Community Needs Assessment, Module/ Guideline Development, Facilitation of ToT
Duration: July to September 2020

Joint Action for Nutrition Outcomes (JANO) of CARE Bangladesh work with the GoB at the national, regional and local levels, specifically with the Nutrition Committees at the district, upazila and union levels as the project acknowledges long-term impact to only be achieved through coordinated approaches of all levels of systemic governance. The project aims to build capacities of the government stakeholders to enable them to better develop nutritional programs and to provide effective oversight of their implementation. The project has been set to be implemented in two districts, covering seven of the most vulnerable upazilas in Rangpur and Nilphamari. The project will aim to address several of the core challenges faced in these districts by increasing and strengthening knowledge and awareness in the areas of appropriate feeding practices and care of infants, young children, and Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW); appropriate hygiene behavior; and adoption of nutrition-sensitive and climate-smart-agriculture techniques.

DEVCOM provided support to CARE Bangladesh JANO project to carry out a need assessment of UDCC and CSGs for developing module of guideline with the consultation with UDCC, CSGS, stakeholders and impact population. Based on the findings of the needs assessment and the Guideline DEVCOM provided a TOT for the capacity building of the community individuals, groups and the UDCC. The main purpose of the TOT was to transform knowledge and skill so that the participants can become a change makers or information distributors for the community that will bring long-term positive impacts where children will grow to become healthy adults, and not be constrained with the afflictions of a stunted individual. DEVCOM developed the module in close collaboration with CARE BD and staffs following a systematic process of module development and adult learning techniques in Bangladesh, specifically for rural areas.
