Project: Design and Develop Sector and Country Specific Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) Programme for Jordan Bound Bangladeshi Migrant Workers.
Partner: International Organization for Migration (IOM)
Services: Training needs assessment; Training module development; ToT conduction; Training material development.
Duration: July 2021- March 2022
International Organization for Migration (IOM) conducted a gap analysis on BOESL’s Pre-Departure Orientation program, where they found a gap in the PDO program. As per the findings- provision of more rights-based information to prepare the migrant workers for the journey and adapt to the host community was required. In order to address these gaps, IOM wanted to develop a sector and country specific PDO programme targeting Jordan corridor, that will provide relevant and accurate overseas employment related information with the technical support of DEVCOM.
DEVCOM has developed a Jordan-specific garment sector PDO module, which includes a learning manual, session plan, facilitators guide, and master trainers training programme. Additionally, they developed some interactive and digital training materials and resources, such as PowerPoint presentation and interactive online multiple-choice question quiz, that facilitate the PDO delivery and ensure effective interaction with participants. As a part of this process, the following activities were conducted by DEVCOM:
- Conducting secondary data review.
- Training needs assessment and consultation workshop.
- Developing Jordan-specific, garment sector PDO module, and a master trainers training programme.
- Developing digital training materials and resources.
- Developing handouts to provide migrant workers during the training sessions.
- Conducting the Master Trainers Training programme and submitting a ToT report.
- Preparing a brief gap analysis report on existing Post-Arrival Orientation programme.
