International Organization for Migration (IOM) initiated a pilot project named “Enhanced Skills Development and Qualification Recognition of Labor Migrants from Bangladesh” in collaboration with Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE). In order to assess the impact of skilled and unskilled migration, IOM had commissioned out the support from national consultant Hassan Imam (Managing Director of DEVCOM) for a tracer study. For the assignment, he and his team conducted IDI with skilled and unskilled migrant workers, along with the family members of the migrant workers, KII with government and non-government organizations working for the migration sector, and FGD with TTCs and private sectors. In this way, the consultant collected case studies, analyzed data and submitted a report. Hassan Imam provided his support in conducting this tracer study in order to document the changes in the lives of migrant workers who were the former beneficiaries of TTCs and Private Training Centers and also the ones who were not.
