Project: Assess pre-decision and pre-departure orientation programme of aspirant migrant workers in Bangladesh.
Partner: UN Women
Services: Data collection, training need assessment, report submission.
Duration: November 2018- December 2018
There seemed to be many inadequacies in several aspects of the existing pre-departure and pre-decision orientations, including in the period, teaching methodology, and receptiveness of the trainees. Thus, it is important to assess these existing orientations to provide better services to aspirant and potential migrant workers, particularly the female migrants. UN Women, in collaboration with ILO, in a project titled “Application of Migration Policy for Decent Work of Migrant Workers” funded by Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC), undertook an assessment to understand the needs of the migrant workers, availability of services, and materials in the area of pre-decision and pre-departure in 2018. DEVCOM Managing Director and his team conducted the assessment and prepared a report on this, that also provided a direction to UN Women for further module and materials development. Based on the findings, two PDO modules were developed later.
